This poem talks about learning to fly solo, but it isn’t really referring to learning to fly an airplane. It is about growing up, coming of age, soaring into the future, spreading wings and taking flight into life.

Ready to Fly Solo

Under watchful instruction

I’ve learned many things

Now I am longing to soar

I’m sprouting dreams and wings

First I learned the simple things

And then things more complex

I studied hard each lesson

Always eager for the next

My hands had to get the feel

Of being in control

With aid close by if needed

To help me reach my goal

I learned that before flying

You must take time and care

To make sure all’s in order

Before taking to the air

Then came that special moment

The time to fly solo

I had studied and prepared

It was now time to go

And so I sped to lift off

Took flight to destiny

Flying solo into life

Soaring high, feeling free.

Yes, you can fly alone and be with yourself. But, always be ready to put forward your destiny in life.

Exhilarating like reading your poem is like flying. Wonderful words.
