Seems there are some people you have to beat over the head before they wake up and smell the coffee. I think I am finally rid of my "cyber stalker" – someone who emailed me every day, trying to reconnect and revive something that never had life to begin with.

It has taken what? Literally months
For you to wrap your mind around
The concept that you are indeed
No longer a part of my life
At least not in the way you would have wanted
After countless attempts to reel me in
To reignite the flame, long since doused
What was it that finally clued you in?
What triggered the switch and made the light turn on?
Could it have been my constant refusals
To travel down memory lane with you?
My delay in answering your many messages
Or perhaps it was my complete and utter failure
To call you each and every time you asked me
Whatever the case, I am relieved
That the realization has begun to sink in
Do you understand now that
My heart no longer skips a beat
When I see your name in my inbox
I don’t get excited at the prospect
Of running into you by chance
Or hearing you voice at the other end
Of a phone line (I know you were hoping)
You no longer have that hold over me
When I see you on the street
I will still stop to say hello
I’ll ask how you have been
But that is as far as it will go
And if you have truly come
To that realization, as you say
You‘ll stop wasting my precious time
