This is a little poem that I first wrote sometime in high school. Its about attempting to stay awake in school of course!
It has some comic relief to it and reminds us of how we used to be when staying up on those late nights doing homework last minute like I was or just studying really-really hard. ![]()
Enjoy!
Strained by enervations of school,
I live my life fifty-five minutes at a time.
Between classes I wake up to the realization of a ding-dong-ding
During classes there is a constant struggle to stay conscious.
My head wobbles back,
Then instinctively forward,
And back and forth and back and forth
My eyes heavy as a two ton dream,
Weighty on my ever so drifting eyes
To fall…

My three minute dream seems so real
I could simply walk out the classroom and pursue it.
So real…
So real to give up this skirmish between real and fantasy
For a new life,
A life of desire…
A life of hedonism …
A life worth trying to achieve…
Only right after a nap in class.
