Yes that first road to recovery.

Here comes your friend who clearly has a drug addiction

Countless time were there, no matter the occasion

Spending hours talking, caring and encouraging to get some counseling

During all that time you can hear those promises coming

How you help too by paying off those little debts

When you went running as those phone calls never let you slept

Feeding you the stories of being in trouble, as those payments were late

Now there were threatening notes be left attached to the gate.

Payment made and again, that promise of trying to get clean

Deep within you know that was because of the current scene

But from the movement your back has gone out the door

There is that compelling pull, back to indulge some more

Another situation in which a friend want to come over

Asking you to allowing to stay, to escape an abusive partner

But when the abuser comes over apologize, there is a departure

Back to the place where there was subjected to such torture.

Victims seem quite oblivious to what is a serious problem

Also apparently not concerned about the effect it has on those who care about them

And seem to believe that the longer they remain in what is now that sanctuary

This will be the comfort zone, all is settled such peace and tranquility

As a friend there will be concern and that need to assist

But sometimes this action, one should try to desist

Recognizing that there is a problem, which needed to be rectified and quickly

So that first step must be made by the person who is in the quandary.
