I wrote this last year (2011) for remembrance day. I wrote it on the bus after I drove past a grave yard in early November. Inspired by the heroes who served our country past and present.
In the wind, the poppies blow.
Red, like bloodshed, the guns echo.
Medals rust, but still they glisten,
and in the silence their ghosts will listen.
Memories of heroes never die,
courage in their battle cry.
Tokens left upon the grave,
As we remember our soldiers brave.
