This poem is a Non-Fiction piece about a girl who thought she was finally accepted to realize her whole world just came crashing down, she was raped by someone she never thought she could get hurt by, some one she only slightly knew but believe in. Then she is saved, by a hero, who fights for her freedom, with his red painted hands, he rescues her but doesn’t save her life, for she is forever stuck with the image and fear in her head.

I can recall it was

a hot summer night,

I’ll try to remember all

the times I tried to fight.

Vicious and vulgar,

That’s how I remember it.

I let the kindness melt away,

like a candle that’s been lit.

Every sound was evil,

Every grunt like a knife,

You cut open my heart and soul.

What was the point in life?

Why did you do it?

Were you truly satisfied?

I’ll keep it a secret,

so you don’t have to hide.

Will you think about that night,

the water dripped on the floor,

While your heart raced in time

with the banging on the door.

Just need to get it in,

that’s all that you thought,

you never thought about me,

you didn’t think you’d get caught.

But I’ll do my best to forget

the smell of alcohol on your breath,

Every sound and every touch,

I had only wished for death.

I wish it wouldn’t haunt my mind,

The touch of your skin,

When my hero came to save me

from this darkest sin.

Who could throw the first punch,

falling upon flesh and bone,

causing bruises to appear,

at the sound of a painful moan.

With the last splash of blood,

my hero had won,

My thoughts were incoherent,

And my head weighed a ton.

With red painted hands,

My savior carried me

through the crowd of people

That I truly longed to be.

I may have been saved,

But it was too late

it had already happened,

It seemed to have been fate.

It may be over now

but I will always remember,

those red painted hands.
