An Acrostic Poem Spelling Downward “A Rebellious Spirit”
Against the grain I go
Rebellion is the chain in tow
Engrained to be
Beautifully sustained in me
Erratic is its flow
Leading me toward the rocks again
Like some sort of oxygen
Its influence never wanes although
Off the record I complain of
Unrequited lust
Smothered by the reign of…
…Tears that turn to dust
Sporadic is my disdain I know
Perhaps I’m used to this
I’m an addict for the pain below
Reduced to useless bliss
In melodramatic terrain
To go against the grain
…Makes me emphatic, insane and so
Against the grain I go
