This poem is about a thief who gets reformed by the acts of two little kids.
someone knocked twice on my door
at this time of night? i wondered
i hesitated but thought a second
wat if its help they are asking for
opened, and faced an pistol ,i shuddered
i wanted to close and hide behind
i tried but he shot me and i kept bleeding
he crept in ,for money he started searching
my little son came rushing out
hugged me tight and screamed out loud.
“you gotta face me first, mister”.
he was followed by his younger sister.
She too hugged me tight and cried
thier falling tears i rose to dry.
i told them to be brave and strong
told em to close thier eyes and say a prayer
and said “daddy’s going, wont be back for long”
but they didnt close but helplessly stared.
the thief gave them a sympathic look
but told em tat he had no choice.
but my little son stood up and said
“he will have given if you had asked, mister”
his sister went in and came with a book
the book tat titled “The Lords Voice”
she had the faith in her eyes tat said
“keep it,you need it more than us,mister”
the thief took it but threw the sack back
“i came here to steal, with a cold hard heart,
but you little ones have stolen it,
and replaced it with love i always lacked ,
giving me a chance for another start,
you little ones are the great gods gift”
he said em with tears sliding down his face
tat was beginning to shine with a growing grace.
he regreted for all the deeds he had done
now he’s sorry, now he’s gone.
leaving the kids all alone,he’s gone home.
as a better human, trying hard to mend
the wounds on this running clock.
unleashing a heart forever thought to be locked.
