"Beware when all men think well of you."
Rejecting Him; Accepting Me
Our prayer lives look so ragged bare,
As threads become unwound.
No lovely garment, rich and rare,
But only stitches found!
Our faltering loyalty looks so sick,
He cannot call us friend,
While with humanity we are thick,
And shall be to the end!
Our sacrifice, pathetic, pale,
Can hardly be our best.
We’ve taken some within the veil,
And lied about the rest!
Our zeal is like a flickering light,
That shall burn out and die.
And leave lost men in Hell’s black night,
Our ears deaf to their cry!
Our earthly treasures look like dust.
Our gold and stones should lay
Where naught can enter there of rust,
And naught can fade away!
Our limping love, so crippled, maimed,
Should bring our eyes to tears.
What have we done in Jesus’ Name,
That counts in later years?
Why wonder then, dear neighbor friend,
At the lack of hostility?
That a world so sad rejected Him,
Is accepting you and me?!
