This day has been long,

I am quite weary of it now.

Sandman is calling,

I must give in to him somehow.

My body is tired,

My mind knows it needs to rest.

Eyes are now heavy,

I have given this day my best.

My pillow it calls,

To my now ever aching head.

My muscles now spent,

I collapse upon the bed.

Relief comes quickly,

Woes of the day drain away.

Sleep washes ore me,

Erasing all thoughts of this day.

You’ve described the feeling well. Makes me wonder why the term sandman came into existence? I haven’t heard that word for years.
