A friend of mine passed away 6mos. ago,I had written this in his honor to his Mom…He was a stand up kind of guy, always there when you needed him,and always had a smile on his face and we shared many laughs together…
Rest in Peace my friend…Todd Gareau 3/30/78-9/2/10.

“Remember Me”

Remember when I was little boy
and the smallest thing was grand
Remember how you made me feel safe
just by taking hold of my hand

Remember all the good times we shared
and how I could make you laugh and smile
Remember even though I wasn’t perfect
I was a definitely a man with his own style

Remember all of our conversations
the serious and the not so serious too
Remember that no matter what happened
the one by my side was always you

Remember you can talk to me anytime
just call my name and I will listen
Remember my spirit will always be with you
it’s only my shell that will be missing

So remember Mom that I may be gone
but memory of me will never die
And like I said if you ever need to talk
just look up to me in the eternal sky

Remember my time here was just temporary
and although it was sooner than planned
Someday we will be together again
but this time I will reach for your hand…

A beautiful tribute to a friend who lives on in your heart. A Poet’s heart seems so ready to be tender. And even the word of God reads like supernatural poetry.
Welcome to Triond. I’m definately a poetry lover. Poets have a way of turning a handful of words into a feast of depth and meaning. God bless you, it’s an beautiful and touching poem.

Thank you for letting me know about this poem- even though it made my wounds raw again… made me cry for my own loss, but gave me hope that my son might be listening there somewhere from the sky, too…(he was only 23 when he got murdered in jan 2008)
