Remember when is a bout some childhood memories.

I remember when

We could get half penny sweets,

Five pence would fill a bag

for us to eat.

*

I remember when

we took bottles back to the shop

Ten pence we would get back,

and we thought we were rich

*

I remember when

we played skipping, hop scotch,

rounders, elastics too

All in the streets

with no worries at all.

*

I remember when

we used to go for long bike rides

Traffic was no hassle

no worries of cars, nearly

knocking you of your bike,

and sending you flying

into the roadside bush.

*

I remember when

Holding a girls hand

meant nothing at all

Didn’t mean you were a lesbian,

but just good friends.

Now people stop and stare

and assume, but hey

so what let them cos it doesn’t

matter at all.

*

I remember when

Dads came home from work

and family’s sat around the table

and had family time,

which carried on in the evening too.

That doesn’t happen much now at all

Though I still make us eat

round the table for some family time.

I hope my son pass this on

to his family too

*

Things have changed oh so much,

memories are all we have got,

of them good times we had.
