When bitterness seeps in, focusing on the ordinary kindnesses brings life back into focus.

Bending back my life
To more pleasant thoughts,
More pleasant ways.
Greeting co-workers
With a smile.

Feeling welcomed
And secure,
In this,
My summer job.
Feeling needed,
Feeling knowledgeable;
Making order,
Making things secure.

Oh, I know,
A tornado
Or and intruder
Bent upon ill intent
Could burst apart
This fragile world.
But here is
The better fabric.

And in its way,
It is strong;
The kindness
Of those who are
By Nature kind.
Who love giving,
Who love making happiness.

A day that bustles
With the joyous business
Of making people
More ready to face
The trials
of this bitter world.

    How true that is, the little kindnesses are the things we should remember. A beautiful poem, thanks for sharing.

    Great poem – well written! Restoring equilibruim with random acts of kindness – that could be a great motto for life. We never know when a small kindness to someone can make a huge impact.

    Beautifully said, nothing like knowing you are doing something to make the world a better place.

    Stick with the kind people in life for sure and avoid the jerks like the plague if possible.
