When you are feeling hopeless and longing for a fresh start, where do you turn? What do you do to get on the path of turning? Where is the best place to start? Read more…

RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE

Oh how we dream things might be different,

Somehow fulfill the longings of our heart,

See changes for the better,

But oh, where do we start?

Trust me, I know the feeling.

I’ve struggled with my life

And have had to face those regrets

That cut me like a knife

But to find my way to better times

Somehow I could not see

On those shadow trails of detours

‘til I fell on bended knees,

feeling lost and useless,

like there was no real hope for me;

‘til I sought God and His direction,

Poured my anguish from my heart

And discovered I had finally found

The perfect place to start

To make those changes that I longed for

And mend my broken heart.

When I let God do the leading,

He keeps me on the right path.

Now life is looking brighter

And all I had to do was ask,

Ask God and really listen

And He helped me understand

That He is my constant help

And loves me just as I am.

All He asks is that I follow,

Simply follow and believe

And I’ve learned if I won’t follow

Even my God can’t lead

Me in the right direction

If I won’t heed His voice.

He knows the perfect plan for me

But I must make the choice.

It is up to me to do the footwork,

Walk steadfast in His way,

Trust Him to blaze the road ahead

And not cling to my yesterdays

Making them my millstone

That will only drag me down

When I carry all that baggage

From my dark past around.

Life isn’t always easy

But in Christ I’m glory bound.

Great poem, I can relate. I like the line about baggage from the past, it is too heavy to carry.

Sometimes when we are looking to find our way we have to remember there is always someone who can help us do that.
