ACT 3

SCENE 1

Benvolio and Mercutio are hanging around Little Italy, New York. It is late in the afternoon.

BENVOLIO    Yo, Big M, let’s bust outta this joint. (adjusts top of coat) It’s gettin’

hot. The Capleones are hangin’ about. If they see us, they’ll pump our guts fulla lead. This heat’s drivin’ ‘em more oobatz than usual.

MERCUTIO    (annoyed sigh) Ya know, you’re like one o’ them babbos, when they’re

                        in the bar, they pull their pieces out, lookin’ for trouble. That’s what

                        you’re like, Benny Boy!

BENVOLIO    (angry) I ain’t no babbo!

MERCUTIO    Whoa! Settle down! You’re acting snappier than my mamma’s

                        spicy fettuccini calzone (smacks lips). If a made man’s gotta shinier

                        knuckle-duster than you, you wanna whack ‘im. If he’s lobbed off

                        more horses’ heads than you, you wanna whack ‘im. If his godfather’s

                        better than yours, you wanna whack ‘im. And at that, you still go all

                        oobatz about not wanting me whackin’ no made man!
