This is a poem depicting college hostel life…..
When the sun emerges and
the darkness vanishes,
How does it matter to us,
our sleep never tarnishes,
And suddenly when the mobile shouts,
It remembers me to pull the blanket out.
Ten minutes left for the morning food,
And still we have to brush our tooth,
Somehow hustle to grab the grub,
Along with the tea in the cup.
Sorry, no time to take the bath,
Just a hair wash and run along the path,
I don’t know why the teacher said,” You are late”,
Again in the canteen for next lecture to wait.
The same schedule – the boring labs,
Watching the girls sitting with lads,
Lunch was fine but not the type of mine,
Classes were bunked and finally 4:20 dunked.
Again the hostel – orkut was on,
No new scraps and a bit of moan,
All lads together,
With useless talks of no matter.
Some busy on phone,
Some out the hostel gone,
Others busy chatting in the lawn,
And rest waiting to cherish the dawn.
Music hither and thither with no bound,
Uncompleted files are all around,
Sleeping late night,
With new movies to have a sight .
No studies but the useless talks,
Roomies are like a family or more,
But the parents more to me than God,
Always have the place in the deepest core.
So friends, its already two-thirty,
Have to sleep,
With a hope for the morning,
That I may listen the mobile beep.
