My Love for Rootbeer.

Rootbeer Daze

By Tara Provenzano

Better than coke, lemon-lime, and orange or grape,

Whether in cans, bottles, or ice filled glasses,

It’s my Ambrosia of the day.

Nectre of the soda companies.

Sharp and sweet, a punch to your thirst

Welcoming and cold.

Favored above water, milk, or juice,

Kool-aid, coffee, and milkshakes onces adored,

Now brushed aside for carbonated gold.

For dinner, lunch, and breakfast,

Don’t forget dessert.

I’ll have just one…

Did I say can?

I meant box.

Caught in a sugar rush,

Now I can’t sleep,

Can’t think, can’t sit still,

I shouldn’t be awake.

My alarm rings for the morning light.

……..I guess I’ll have a rootbeer.
