When wondering down a lonely street
I heard the sound of quickening feet
Then the sound of gun fire
My Heart gave an almighty beat

I walking around the corner
A scene it confronted me
People hiding there fear
Crouching in doorways
& in the street

This guy said to me
There’s a burning car over there
Black smoke choking the air
Oh my god what a scene
Like something on the TV screen

There’s a guy on the deck
Blood it’s everywhere
A gaping hole in his neck
I could only think of
Who’s going to be next

Then I notice something odd
A single rose petal at his feet
This terrible scene is now clear to me
The rose petal assassin
He’s trapped down the street

I hear the crackling of the flame
Just before the oncoming bang
It masked the fatal shot
He drop’s to his knees
This hero this can’t be

He never did give up the fight
The right time he could never find
His gun always by his side
Even on this day
The day he died
