This song / poem is about a friend. She’s a real sweet girl, but ended up choosing other guys who were abusive. We came close to going out as a couple many times, but it never happened. We’re still friends, but I can tell that she’s been abused by men and is walking on egg shells. I’ve learned from books and experience that abusive women tend to keep going out with abusive men. My friend finally woke up, yea. This composition is about what I felt from her and a little of how I felt at the time.

Run Away From That

you can hide from those

            in a forest

you can run from them

            in a desert

but you can’t hold back the truth

of the survivor of the fittest

the young, the wealthiest

the love, the hate

the fear, the anger

you know you’d run away from that

you can’t hold back the tears

with the anger

            that possesses your soul

you can’t hold back the hate

            there is for man

wisdom comes and goes

when you can’t taste the good it does

            you runaway and hide

it possesses you, it controls you

and still you live by it

            and pretend its ok

but you can’t hold back the truth

about the survivor of the fittest

look up from the floor

            and ask yourself why?

like the black cat

            that has no family

like a flying bat

that crashes and waits to die

escape the light

and run away into the night

you know you’d run away from that

you can’t hold back the tears

with the anger you’ve set for fate

            it possesses your soul

you can’t hold back the hate

             there is for man

please don’t give me the blame

you know you would run away from that

but you can’t hold back the truth

of the survivor of the fittest

the young, the wealthiest

the love, the hate

the fear, the anger

you know you’d run away from that

you can’t hold back the tears

with the anger

            that possesses your soul

you can’t hold back the hate

            there is for man

you can’t hold back the tears

            with the anger

that possesses your soul

you can’t hold back the hate

you know you love to hate

you can’t hold back the tears

            with the anger

that possesses your soul

you can’t hold back the hate

you know you love to hate

you know you would run away from that
