An unfinished poem about someone I once knew.

Lit the fuse, then you burned it out.
Ignite the fire, watch it all fall down.
Run through the woods in the moonlit night.
Run from your fears, run from your fright.
Run away, run away, Runaway Joe.
Hide in the shadows cast by the trees.
In the persuasion of the night you will fall to your knees.
But no one has to know what you dream in your sleep.
Run through the woods in the moonlit night.
Run from your fears, run from your fright.
Run away, run away, Runaway Joe.
No one has to know.
You’re all alone now, with your cryptic thoughts in play.
The creatures of your mind reach out in a not so subtle way.
This is what happens when you let it all go.
Run away, run away, Runaway Joe.
Let it all, let it all, let it all go.
Devoured by your fear of the future.
You let go of your past.
And gave away your present.
Make friends with the green and watch them die.
Year after year you take your hibernation
From the condemnation of your once loved soul.
You asked for solitude, we left you alone.
Now there’s slim pickings, no meat on the bone.
