A poem written by my lady pirate, Sopheya Athlynn, about her life and home. She wrote this poem while standing watch one late afternoon. Her ship, Scourge of Freeport, was sailing back to Freeport after a long voyage.

The night be clear.
The moon so high.
Me watch soon ends
As time flies by.
All hands on deck.
Freeport’s in view.
We’ve sailed so far
And lost a few.
Me mates can’t wait.
They cheer and sing.
Our ship holds chests
Of gold we bring.
I rush to stow
My booty won,
And bid farewell
To everyone.
The pier be full.
Our ship pulls in
I head on home
To Kelethin.
A proper home
Awaits me there.
Good food and drink;
Clean clothes to wear.
I sing for coins
And drink a lot.
I hunt and trade
As I was taught.
No gentleman
Would want to wed
Someone like me
Who’s good in bed.
I still be young
And fair by looks.
Aye, strong and smart;
No need for books.
So I care not
For I am free
To live me life
On land or sea.
And when me gold
Be spent ashore,
To ship I head
For sea once more.
