The love of the sea.
Past their time of history
sailing ships at hand would be
times were hard or so were told
deck boys, cooks and officers bold
scrubbing decks raising sail
climb the rigging captains hail
——
Lash that cargo, hoist the flag
check the life boats pack your bag
all the crew report to me
pacific bound today we be
slavers, fishers cargo trips, whalers passenger sailing ships.
——-
dockside merchants from wool to wood
sailors drunk lay down in mud
captain calls the crewman’s names
check the cargo list again
seaman’s tales and story’s cold
tails of monsters and serpent’s told
——
If you stroll the docks today
sailing ships all past away
oceans vast, oceans deep
your sailing dreams are yours to keep.
