About the sea and weathering the storm in all of us.
So up mainsail! Tie that halyard!
there’s a wind here to be weathered
we’ll cut a wake so salty
the storm’ll know she’s bettered
through gale, through gully
‘tween the swells roaring crest
we’ll brook no faint of heart
we’ll shy no ocean’s test
we’ll ne’er again be shipwrecked
nor turned by a fell tide
we’ll trust to truth, take good heart
let out conscience be our guide
we’ll see these foreign lands
see many a fair shore
and oh the tales we’ll tell
when we come home to yours
’cause in life there’s naught you need more
than a steady heart and soul
though the storms and tide may shake them
they will always leave you whole
when you come at last to sunrise
o’er a far familiar shore
you’ll know you to have lived well
and you’ll go to sea no more.
