Yesterday as i watched the news

I saw pictures of soldiers battered and bruised

as those pictures jumped off the screen tears came into my eyes

and then a feeling of disbelief I felt numb deep inside

and then i thought about the families,

how much pain must be in their hearts

imagaine your child scared heroes yet sons and daughters

as i sit here trying to make sense of it all

I continue to fall into the news and pictures

and the brave souls who would put themselves in harms way

who believe there is honor in fighting for what you believe in

America’s brave children those who leave their own families

so others can know freedom, freedom you and i may have taken for granted

so now that we see the images of those who would die

so you may eat a meal or state your opinion

we should give thanks that we are blessed with such brave souls

who would make the ultimate sacrafice for you and me
