The nearest place from where I live to get a Root Beer Float is 13 miles away. We been calling it the root beer run and that got me inspired for this ditty. I had to play Foggy Mountain Breakdown over and over to help me write this.

Saturday Night Root Beer Run
20 June 09
Thirteen miles of one curvy bumpy road
Can we go without getting in trouble
We work all week just sweating up a storm
Load the old truck head in for a double
Jo got the banjo and Sally got crow
Sweep out the hay and lets tank up the truck
It’s too hot to stay here lets get in gear
Hop on the buckboards hold on for dear luck
Fred’s driving the truck PUSH he’ll pop the clutch
Down that bumpy road lookout for that toad
Oh no, we lost Jim. Stop, go back for him
Round the next corner we run off the road
Jo playin banjo, Sally sipping crow
Ev’ry one let out such a big holler
Look out pothole SLAM and out go the lights
Fred stopped the truck with so much foul grammar
We all went running round, Fred banged the lights
Then push start the truck and hop on again
We’re just halfway there we’ll make it somehow
Sally punched Glen and made him drop that hen
One last mile and we’ll have our Root Beer treat
Miss Daisy Mae’s Diner best ever made
Under the moonlight we were almost there
Jim and Sally began their serenade
Sally sang our best banjo Root Beer song
It was one crazy hoot that we did shoot
Put away the guns boys we now in town
So on down to the diner we did scoot
Boys it’s the Saturday night Root Beer run
Park that truck and we all fall out as one
Heading right in we all try to out run
Cause it’s the Saturday night Root Beer run
