The farmers often use scarecrows

To keep away the crows from eating their crop

It worked as their crops grows

Without scarecrows the crows would never stop.

Scarecrows are stuffed men on wooden sticks

Where they stand forever more

It’s tied firmly onto a wooden cross

With the arms stretched out.

Years ago scarecrows were the rage

They were good for keeping the birds at bay

You don’t see many this day and age

Once they saw the scarecrow they flew away.

The crows and starlings were the worse

Tied to a wooden star shape they fixed the scarecrow

The crows were always there first

It gave the farmers a chance for their crops to grow.

There are probably not many fields left

You don’t get to see a scarecrow these days

So no need for scarecrows to be kept

The only scarecrow is on top of a bonfire with no delays.
