This poem is based on Isaiah 1:18: "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
I gave You my life in my enlightenment
Of the stark contrast of our conditions
You were nothing but holy and I was tainted
From wicked thoughts that came to fruition
And as I fell upon my knees
As my soul was burning with conviction
You spoke this invitation to me:
Come and be reconciled
Restored to the innocence of a child
Though your sins be as scarlet
They can be white as snow
Well, today reminded me of that great hour
When You blanketed me in righteousness
And I saw how I had stained myself again
I had not guarded my heart from foolishness
And I yearned to be clean again
As my soul was burning with conviction
How wonderful that the invitation still stands
Come and be reconciled
Restored to the innocence of a child
Though your sins be as scarlet
They can be white as snow
