A classroom filled with noisey kids. The school bell rings and the teacher finally is alone once again.

fingernails
going across chalkboard
stills the room

so quiet
a pin dropping could be heard
but why
would you drop a pin now
when nothing is heard

you breathe
as your heart pounds

waiting to see what’s next

wondering what could happen
in the next few seconds
in this room
where there’s no noise
but the air is thick
with anticipation

booyah

books fall over
papers rustle

a stampede
of little feet
racing for the door

the school bell rang
time to go home

the teacher rejoices
cuz another day has gone by
and there’s still some sanity
but not much to spare

I liked it, normally the focus would be on the kids waiting to get out of school and not about how the teacher feels, so this has much more originality to it.
