The harder the goal is to attain, usually the greater the return on investment.

When the words are dangerous
You grow wary and weary
You ignore the distance and forget the
non existence
and while you are blinded by brevity
Other see the simpleness clearly

When the words are delicious
You ration out the sound
One closes the eyes and dreams of childhood abound
and the former days
Retire to the attic of one’s mind where
the dusty repose  of small miracles
still exist
Still the words are dangerous and cannot be avoided
One covers the ears to calm the concerns
tacitly learns
and forces the science of sleep to come quickly

  • T. S. Lewis on Oct 18, 2010

Interesting. It gives me an idea that writing can be a struggle some times.

Absolutely Mr. Lewis. However the return on investment is usually worthwhile IF we have the proper perspective. Many a writer have never made a red cent on their writings but still feel fulfilled.

Content to simply be able to effectively communicate what is in their head and heart.
