Now…

Boisterous billows

Crashing ‘gainst

coastal defences

Uncompromisingly angry

Terrifying

~~~

Then…

Gentle waves

Calmly caressing

responsive shore-line

Unquestioningly peaceful

Soothing

Ebb & flow

To & fro:

Mirror of the heart

Complex & changeable

Driven & demanding

~~~

I can but stare,

As mesmerised

I see myself

There.

Yes, that’s how I see the ocean too. It is captivating and introspective. Thanks for this. I get to the coast so rarely, but I can still hear the waves in my heart.
