The poem is about the seasonal change and the beauty they each bestow on nature’s footsteps.

Aphrodite
And her amour – Adonis blooms
As the twirling earth revolves
Around the incandescent celestial orb
In an egg-shaped path
The Nature changes its garbs
As the snake moults its skin
Or the chameleon its hue
When the love of
Spring arrives

Bringing along a carnival
Of singing nightingales, cuckoos n’ larks
Of fragrant meads of colours
Of blossoms draped trees
Of vain butterflies with dainty wings
And flirtatious moths humming strains
Of azurer, crispier mornings
Of sprouting new leaves yet unfurled
Of sparkling gems dewdrops
And colorful rainbows stretched
As a bridge o’er the horizons

Then the kaleidoscope alters
Its countenance to the moods
Of the deities
The temper of Helios rises
As he glares at one and all
Quenching the thirst of his wrath
With waters of many a river
The cotton puffs of clouds
That harmlessly sailed over the sky
Now harbor storms and lightening
In their wombs
Heralding downpours to satiate
The arid throat of the thirsty earth
Golden corn sways in the fields
And mangoes are laden
On foliage covered boughs

Again the mood of  Nature alters
And a new scenario emerges
The leaves are now touched with
Yellow, gold and brown
From the palette of Nature
Branches bend under
The weight of laden fruit
While greenery changes into dried leaves
Fluttering at the wind’s fancy
And skeletons of the trees alone remain
Standing in the mellowed sunshine
With lengthening silhouettes in their wake

Again the wheel turns
Again the panorama varies
The  ivory quilt of snow
Covers the lethargic earth
The sun is just smiling
With lukewarm benevolence
Through the draperies of mist
The squirrels and hares
All burrow off to sleep
While bird take flight for warmer environs
As the hissing chilly winds
Spread icy fingers over Nature’s brow

Such is the cycle of seasons
So reminiscent of the cycle
Of human life
Spring has the cherubic beauty
Of childhood
Summer the vigor and energy
Of the summer months
Autumn brings the maturity
And mellowed complacence
Of middle age
At last arrives the drab lonely
Season of winter
Just like old age
When life narrows down to
Hours of brooding adventures
On the armchair
Or forays into the vague past
The foggy lanes of memories
Until the soul embarks
On its eternal voyage
O’er the water of Styx…
