How one man’s junk became another’s treasure for seven wonderful years.
I’ll always remember the first day we met.
It was love at first sight–on that you can bet.
She won everyone’s heart when I took her ’round
To show all my friends the sweet girl I’d found.
What great times we had when our lives became one.
Soon mundane activities turned into fun.
Sunday afternoon drives and walks on the farm
And dips in the creek when the weather was warm.
Kisses would greet me when I would get back
From a day on the road and ready to hit the sack.
I didn’t care if she was a bed hog,
With her by my side I would sleep like a log.
Don’t think it was easy winning her heart.
She wasn’t ready to make a new start.
Dumped by her first love she trusted no one
But patience and tenderness got the job done.
Those days are gone now but mem’ries remain
Of the girl who once loved me. O, how the pain
Of hearing the words that the Vet said to me:
Your old girl is gone now. She went peacefully.
