A poem about two lovers’ first secret date–simple, sweet and unforgettable.
Hush! Hush! Hush!
For no one else knew but a chosen few.
We met at the tennis court.
I finally saw you
You smiled as you approached.
Oh, that dimple!—It melted my heart.
Thank God
Not an awkward silence was our start
You told a hundred stories,
I still managed to listen—
For your pitchy sexy voice
Made my body and soul weaken
A fancy meal from the streets
We shared, with two bottles of tea.
But first we sought shelter
Under the arms of an ancient tree
Summer withered the grass
And made the sky starless and dark;
Forget the tree!
We sat in the middle of a well-lit park.
You smelled my right arm.
I twitched for I was sweaty.
I touched your back. Wet.
I wiped it with my favorite hanky.
With your left thumb,
You removed the sweat droplet near my right eye;
While I, with my right hand,
Slowly caress your left thigh
We talked and laughed
About almost everything,
While we silently pray,
For time’s pendulum to stop swinging
Then I told you to forgive
My little surprise—
A petite offering,
Blueberry cheesecake slice
At a quarter before nine,
We bought a drink to wet my lips.
And then as we waited for a ride home,
I shyly put my hands on your hips.
You called a taxi
And gave the driver commands;
Inside we sat down
And held each other’s hands
Traffic you may have hoped,
While I, an accident—such selfish imagination.
Time is of the essence.
We enjoyed each other until my train station.
When the cab stopped, a final kiss I gave
To express how much I really love you;
Yes. Such perfect way to end
Our first sweet secret rendezvous
