A poem about seduction, using the first and last lines of Elizabeth Browning’s "How Do I Love Thee".
How do I love thee?
She sirens with contempt
the mantra disfigured
bloated trickery
satirical stench.
Her prey:
tormented fools
tempted by passion.
They bawl and bleat
from a lover’s oubliette:
I shall but
love thee better
after death
