As it runs its last lap
With twists and turns
It’s attempting to deceive
- – -
But the clock
Is counting down
On those dreadful times
When blacks couldn’t
Find adequate jobs
- – -
Imagine not being
Able to have an education
Similar to whites
And being brutally harassed
- – -

There was no integration
Of neighborhoods
The black and white races
Were separated
Almost like South Africa’s apartheid

Equal opportunity for employment
And affirmative action
Made a lot possible for most

Are not only in sports
They are in entertainment
Academia, science, and politics
The present president
Of the United States
Barack Obama is black

So our two-headed beast
Is gradually dying
A slow but certain death
- – -
The notion that all men
Are created equal
As an ideal seems
To be taking shape
As the worse among us
Is driven out
