It is natural to dread a particular date or time of year, it is tragedy and raw anniversaries which mark these out for us.
The dread of September arriving
was infantile in its simplicity
The start of a new school year
an end to the summer cheer
Now that month holds more weight
and I yearn for simpler days
The rain drenches from the stars
a heavy burden sinking my heart
It is tied to it like a weight
and pauses my life and delays
the direction in which it is going
because my heart is busy coming and going
