What happens to the heart that overflows with love when there is no nourishment? Does it continue to thrive or does it whither and die?

A tender stroke

A gentle touch

Eyes lit up

Meant so much

A voice that’s soft

A smile that’s bright

These little things

Sat my world upright

A voice that barks

Eyes of steal

Words that bite

Bring pain that’s real

When hands refrain

From a sweet caress

My heart aches

With emptiness

How can one bring back

Those tender ways

That nurtured love

And sunlit days?

Your words said all that is true and needed and all that should not be present too. Flow is so smooth and deep.

Louie, thanks for your support. I’ve come to the conclusion that happiness comes from within. What we had was wonderful but dwelling on or wishing for what once was does not bring it back so I must concentrate on what I have control over and let all else be. Why is that I still linger over these thoughts from time to time? Is it the woman in me that asks for more? Wanting what I can’t have does not help.

Roberta, you are kind and supportive. Thanks so much.
