This is a poem I wrote for a Jewish Camp I used to go to when I was 12.

Sabbath

Shabbat is here, on this joyous day.

A time to rest, and a time to pray.

To think  how we can better ourselves,

and not to throw our lives away.

Now is the time to laugh and say, “

This is such a Holiday.”

Although It comes once a week,

what you make it is what it means.

On the news, everything is negative.

People are tortured, others are mean,

the world is darkening, or so it seems.

But that is not true, there is light.

Although it’s not directly in sight.

Good deeds are done, under the brightness of the sun.

Each one affects everyone.

But we must create peace,

So that tentions will release,

and you will be astonished by what you see.

And if we put in all our might,

through both day and night,

we can make a star,

filled with light.
