A tongue that is too sharp to speak ruthless words is a poison that kills.

Source

Sharp words, sharp lips

are claws hurting every heart beat.

Sharp thoughts written in whispers

are poisons killing lives.

Sharp glances, sharp smiles

are volcanoes bursting out loud

Sharp fingers counted in envy

are hurricanes sweeping away hundreds in fear.

Sharp teeth, sharp tongue

are huge rocks crushing every core

Every breath, every corner, every shore.

This is excellent in that you have made me think (which I must admit, something I am not accustomed to) about the things that I say throughout the day. My daughter says I have word vomit. LOL
If it is on my mind it usually always comes out. I guess it made me think that I should start watching and thinking about what I say before I say it. Thanks

I think we all say things we shouldn\’t and hurt people. We need to take more care. A wonderful poem.

The people that are like this – if they only knew how much those sharp words can cut. Indeed very damaging, as you vividly described.

I can’t agree more. They say, “Be kind, every person you meet is fighting a difficult battle”, or as Aristotle would put it, ” Kindness is the greatest wisdom”.

    So very true!

Really true. If only we pause before we act or speak, we would be able to do a world of good…being impulsive is my second nature, but you are right, there should be control….a sharp tongue is like a double-edged knife!

I absolutely love it. The truth rings through and through. Your flow brought a powerful message from beginning to the end. Nicely done.

Nice job! You know, it we would treat others the way we would like to be treated, ourselves, we’d probably never hear sharp or hurtful words again the rest of our lives!

So true. Many people kill other people with their tongues. It is sharper than sword and hurt many people. We should be careful with the things we say.

  • Monica Sappleton on Mar 24, 2009

Very true, and an uncurbed tongue can cause a lot of fire. A great poem.
