As much as we all aspire for success, we must settle for far less.

Once upon a time in Triond land

Fame and fortune eluded many

The published work that we submit

Just made us all a few pennies

We starve and struggle night and day

To keep one step above a financial crisis

Only to find out to our dismay

That fame and fortune was only there to entice us

But every story needs a happy ending

In order to make ole Triond look best

One out of ten thousand of us who might succeed

Poverty and obscurity are in store for the rest

So put your pride and feelings aside

For many before us have tried and failed

Triond for most of us should be nothing more than a hobby

And each month we receive a small check in the mail

Isn’t that just the truth! You say it how you see it, and are astute enough to know you need more than rose tinted glasses to get on with this site.

But why should I complain, I have made the princely sum of 48p, and I’m not laughing out loud.

    Take care friend.

    …and if we could give everyone a little more time;
we would make each month a little more than a dime…

I like this hfj…: ) I wonder if Triond will give us a little extra per view after this…hehehe…

    Great work…thanks

I think if you want to get rich with writing, you need to write for magazines that pay big bucks. Many articles here are wonderful, and could be worth a lot of money. But, I just assumed most of us were here because we love to write, and we get help from other’s comments. If you go in with the idea that your name will be noticed, and with just some luck, someone “big time” might run across your writing, then it might make it easier to put our words out here for the world to see. Making a few pennies here now and then, is just a little extra incentive. Don’t we all know we aren’t getting rich on Triond? Damn, I wish we were!

So very true! Love this piece, hfj!

  • Duff D Moss on Jul 27, 2009

LoL – I think most people come to this realisation sooner or later. This should perhaps be included in the list of articles newbs should read when they first join Triond :-)

  • Ruby Hawk on Jul 27, 2009

Ain’t it the truth! You remember the time Triond goofed and I almost passed out. Posted to my earnings were several hundred dollars. I kept looking back and they had it corrected before the day was out. I almost thought I was going to be rich. What a joke, I still love it. It’s somewhere to publish your work, communicate with friends and have fun doing it. I hope nobody imagines they will get rich here.

A small check is better than no check :)

Anyone who came here with grandiose ideas will most likely be greatly disappointed. If they came with the expectation of writing, reading and being read while communicating with some awesome individuals, then they will be thrilled. Clever poem.

    Take care & God bless.

  • Kristie Leong MD on Jul 28, 2009

It’s hard to get rich writing online, but it is possible to make a pretty good monthly income if you’re persistent. :-)

  • Mikayla on Jul 29, 2009

Good things come to those who wait Hfj..hehehe..and some people are so obsessed with the pursuit of success and making lots of money in the writing game..that they have forgotten what it feels like to actually get to the top and make a good wicket. You may not have made the hot list yet Hfj..but you keep writing stuff like this..you’ll be where you deserve to be..making good money doing what you love and are exceptionally good at..writing.

I can feel your frustration through the LCD display. But keep going, keep writing, keep growing, work on your skill, keep persevering, try other genres, and other avenues, and you’ll find something that pays!

You made me smile. I don’t see how any of us can expect to earn much on this site but look at all the friends you have made.

Nicely put!So true, many have some kind of misconception they can make loads of money here when in fact that is really not true, however;it does give a good publishing experience and you can make as much here as most sites so I will take my check no matter how small lol.At least it doubles in money each month lol last month I made 3 dollars and I am already at that now with a half month left to go. Thanks for sharing this it certainly grabbed a lot of people attention! Great read!

Exactly the way I see it Hfj – write for pleasure and relaxation–>They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you make them feel.

Writing and seeing comments and likes is better than a sharp stick in the eye.

I’ll just take my $1.26 and buy me a candy bar.
