She stood at the mirror.

Looking at her face.

Once upon a time.

She saw a young girl.

Full of joy and grace.

Then a young women.

Setting life at her own pace.

Now she sees wrinkles.

Lines on her face.

Where is that young girl?

Who has taken her place?

Looking at her face.

She stood at the mirror.

Great poem ! Yes it can be sad when we look in the mirror and we no longer see the young girl we used to see. :)

This is a great poem. It is sad when people realize that they are not as young as they used to be. Thanks for sharing.

    That’s good, Pam.

I know how you feel, Pam. I had my passport photo taken last week and I look twenty years older than in the last one. How can that be? A lovely poem.

Beautiful poem, seems like we are all aging, and time goes by faster and faster. That fountain of youth is as illusive as ever.

  • Starpisces on Feb 12, 2012

    very well composed one, Pam.
Yes, I also ask the mirror each time I look at it, though I have some discount on my age, but no matter how, I can never look the same as before.

I too have a poem similar to this one. We can’t deny what the mirror is showing us.
