Gossip and slander, bloodless murder.
Oh Lord, Save me from the strife of tongues.
You ask,
Open up, let us see
What you hold so close to your chest.
What is there in that parcel
That is precious?
Why not let us see?
I cannot show you
What I keep wrapped up
In tissue and gossamer
You would not understand
The light that sparkled
In a glance
The sweetness
In a smile
As fleeting and as transient
As a wave upon
The sand
Leaving in its wake
An opal gleam
I would not let you have
My precious memories
Which may be just a dream or a hope or what
You may call
Wishful Thinking
But do not
Slay me
With your painted lips
As you chew over
My secret
In your Gossip Sessions
And murder
Bloodlessly
