The legends of dewdrops in verse…

Shining dewdrops are the wet kisses of night breeze

Frozen on the crimson lips of redolent rose buds

Or drops of nectar left as honeyed remnants on petals

By the voracious butterfly, moth and bees sucking floral elixir

The dewdrops on the leaves and flowers are licked away

By hungry rays in the golden iridescent dawn

Dewdrops fall from the lunar countenance in ebon nights

And these drops of ambrosia filled with silver moonbeams

Are swallowed by the oyster enamoured by the moon to create pearls

Dewdrops dangling from leaves are like pearl earrings

Awaiting a fairy who would wear them like fluorescent beads

They line the cobwebs making them look like canopies of pearls

They appear studded with rubies  as a bridal palquin

The tears of the sky weeping in love with the earth

Drop down to glisten on the earth’s cheeks as dewdrops

Manna to feed starving men of Moses from the heavens

Fell on the face of the earth as morning dew

Ersa, the daughter of Eos and Zeus, was the tear drops of Eos

Dropped from her eyes at the death of her son in battle

Dewdrops tell stories to all reminding that life is transient…
