A wrongly convicted man and his plight in prison awaiting his death…

He was caged as an animal on vestigial fragments

Of flimsy evidence presented in a rhapsody of confusion

His liberty infringed upon and restricted despite

The reverberating shrieks of wounded innocence

Emerging from the parched bruised throat

While he banged his head on rocky walls in frustration

His innocence was easily established yet paradoxically unseen

By the eyes of malevolent prejudice

Walking through imprisoned days in a trance

His eyes like vacant hollows unknown to oblivion of sleep

Which refused to be ensnared into eyes hunted by nightmares

Every day hope blossomed with the dawn and died at twilight

Every draught of wind that entered the prison was treasured

While he spent silent days befriended by sneering shadows

Awaiting his moment on the sepulchre despite his innocence

Entangled in a web of reticulated lies spun with dexterity

Even the desire to survive was extinguished

As the morass of depression engulfed him

And every day began with a sigh as prologue

And was ended with a moan as the conclusion…
