A poem by me.
Silence in the world
Silence
It is everywhere
Even where you don’t expect it
Silence
Poverty
Child abuse
The homeless
Silence
Nobody hears it
But so many have it
Silence
The trees of the Amazon
Being cut down
And they can’t do anything about it
Silence
The ugly
depressing truth
Silence
Not everyone acknowledges it
For it is another unwanted burden
Upon our lightly weighed backs
Silence
Although we do not see it
It does not mean it’s not there
Silence
A unbreakable wall for some
A mass of unmovable substance
It blinds us
Silence
We do not think
Of the whispers of silence
The pressing need
Just to survive
Silence
Some may venture in
But find nothing
Nothing but more silence
For we are sometimes deafened
By the evil, encroaching force
Of others
Who have been given
To much power
Silence
Given to us
by power
