Silence me, but you will not quiet my voice
Cover my mouth but it will not fade
No matter how much you try, I continue making noise
My voice to silence won’t be laid…
…It is an idea that leaves you all in anguish
I cannot and will not be hushed
I will not hesitate, my voice will be shared
And my words will not be judged
So silence me… you, I dare.
Silence me, but you will not quiet my voice
Cover my mouth but it will not fade
No matter how much you try, I continue making noise
My voice to silence won’t be laid
I speak words with my lips
But I speak thoughts through my eyes
And I paint pictures with my finger tips
Speaking, painting thoughts of great size
And you know I don’t have to weave sentences
To tell you what I mean
Nor to speak your offences
I can speak of things that others have never seen
And I do it all without speaking words
Saying what others dare not say
And yet I do it all without the aid of vocal chords
Words you can’t hear are ones that in your mind will stay
I’ve made a protest, a statement to the rest
That I will not be silenced
And all their shushes are just another test
Their orders, will simply be ignored
My great grand voice will not rest
It is the whispers in the dark
It is the voice of the riots
For those who hear it, my voice leaves an eternal mark
Defying the orders of unreasonable idiots
It will not whisper back to you
My voice is not a language
Nor will it stop if it suites you, or if you want it to
It is an idea that leaves you all in anguish
I cannot and will not be hushed
I will not hesitate, my voice will be shared
And my words will not be judged
So silence me… you, I dare
