On silence in relationship.

In stony silence he watches me pack

Locked in a prison of his own design

Late-night conversations

and love in the park forgotten

Passion that once flamed through his soul

Damned behind a wall of mistrust

I tried to stop

the flow of my love

But it still leaks out

Drips into his pool of silence

marring the surface for just a second

Then disappearing in the depths

no longer visible

no longer real

I am too weary to endure

another muted day

So I pack books and dreams

in cardboard boxes

And depart in search of song
