I feel the silence of the African night all the time-it makes me weak, terrified and vulnerable.

I lay awake in the silent African night

Only my heart beating within me

Darkness so heavy and consuming

That I am tempted to hold onto someone

But friends never show up in the  silent nights

Only ancestral ghosts like to lurk in the dark

Trying to make their unwanted visitations

Into the dark and silent world of

Men already frightened by the lonely

Silence of the African Night

Well written. KKK image is disturbing.

African nights seem to be so much less calming to the soul than nights many of us have.
