Cold winter tale.

Silent Night

In the cold, a baby shivered

No one heard his cries.

Suffering alone in the snow.

He struggles to stay alive.

How could his mother leave him?

So many options she had.

Leaving him alone to die

on a cold winter’s eve.

The wind begin to howl

Snow began to blow.

The baby tried to cry.

Only silence sliced the night.

The woman pushed her cart,

Looking for some light.

Maybe a place to start a fire.

On this Christmas night.

A broken box covered in white.

She struggles to pick it up.

A fire to keep her warm

Is what she dearly dreams of.

She heard a tiny cough.

Digging deeper she began to cry.

Her hands begin to burn from cold.

A tiny little baby turning shade of ice.

Taking off her scarf,

Wrapping him rather tight

Who would leave a baby

on a dark and dismal night?

She held him very close.

Giving him sips of snow

Building a fire with his box.

Heat is what they needed most.

When the flame was high.

She laid him by the heat.

Struggling he tried

to feel the warmth on his skin.

She began to sing.

Her face weathered and old.

Thanking God she found him.

The little bundle in the snow.

Silent night is what she sang.

The baby started to smile.

She kept him close to her breast

all through the night.
