An abuse poem.

She sits in her room in the darkness.
Confused and all alone.
Although she’s only six years old,
She use to no one being with her at home.
~
Her mom hangs out at the local bars.
Every night picking up a different man.
Her dad is to busy getting high,
And hanging with his band.
~
She doesn’t know what she did so wrong,
Why do they leave her by herself.
She needs some Tender loving care.
She’s not a doll who can be left on a shelf.
~
But she’d rather be at home all alone,
Then to face what she knows will come later.
How can her dad beat her and do what he does.
What did she do to make him hate her?
~
Why does her mom not love her.
Why does she not hold her in her arms.
Why doesn’t anyone take care of her,
Who will save her from all this harm.
~
Why can’t others see her hurt,
or hear her silent cries.
Can’t they see that every day,
another piece of her dies.
~
We all need to get involved,
To hear these silent tears.
Listen to those unspoken words.
Help them escape their fears.

Aw, poor girl…this is such a harrowing poem of neglect that one can only help by feeling sorry. A lot of thought and emotion into this. Good work.

that poem brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes.

I think that should be used as part of a campaign. Well done, it painted a perfect picture.

It brought tears to my eyes and pain to my heart. Too many silent tears are shed everyday and they are often not heard. And the sad thing is, when those tears are finally heard, it is often too late.

It’s amazing that this is such a common problem, inhumanity is common, how sad is that. Good poem, thought provoking.
